1. Introduction
The Challenge 25 policy is a preventative approach adopted by Sip & Solve Ltd in line with the
Licensing Act 2003. It is designed to reduce the risk of underage alcohol sales and ensure that
anyone who appears to be under the age of 25 is asked to present valid photographic ID before
being served alcohol.
2. Policy Statement
Sip & Solve Ltd is committed to upholding UK licensing law and promoting responsible alcohol
service. We will refuse service of alcohol to anyone who cannot produce acceptable proof of age
when requested. All staff will actively implement this policy at all times.
3. Staff Responsibilities
All staff who serve alcohol are required to:
- Be trained in the Challenge 25 policy before commencing work.
- Ask for valid photo ID from anyone who appears to be under 25 years of age.
- Refuse service if appropriate ID is not provided.
- Report any incidents of abuse or refusal to a manager.
- Record all refusals in the Refusals Log.
4. Acceptable Forms of ID
Only the following forms of ID are accepted:
- A valid passport
- A UK or EU photocard driving licence
- A Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) card
- Military identification
5. Signage and Awareness
Challenge 25 signage will be clearly displayed at the point of sale, bar area, and entrance.
Customers should be made aware of the policy upon entry or when ordering alcoholic drinks.
6. Training
All relevant staff will undergo regular training on age verification procedures, acceptable ID types,
refusal protocol, and the use of the Refusals Log. Training records will be maintained.7. Refusals Log
A Refusals Log must be kept to record incidents where service was refused due to lack of
appropriate ID or suspicion of underage purchase. This log will be reviewed regularly by
management.
8. Management Responsibility
It is the responsibility of the bar manager and supervisors to:
- Ensure staff are fully trained and understand the policy.
- Monitor compliance with the policy.
- Investigate and respond to any breaches.
- Ensure the Refusals Log is up to date.
9. Compliance and Legal Requirements
Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action and could lead to criminal
prosecution and penalties, including the loss of our premises licence. Staff have a legal
responsibility under the Licensing Act 2003 to prevent the sale of alcohol to minors.

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or business practice
